Royal Greenwich festive light trail Sparkle in the Park sleighs with over 27,000 visitors

Over 27,000 Royal Greenwich residents were dazzled by the Council’s free festive event, Sparkle in the Park in Avery Hill Park.

For four spectacular nights, the park was transformed into an enchanted winter wonderland and the historic Winter Garden was illuminated, alongside stunning light features sponsored by Bagnalls and Lbox Communications.

Festive market stalls and street food, a fun fair and musical performances entertained families from across the borough and beyond.

Cllr Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, said,“Every festive season, Sparkle in the Park brings our communities together and this year’s backdrop of the historical Avery Hill Winter Garden was especially magical.

“The Council are committed to delivering free and accessible events for local families. It was brilliant to see so many residents enjoying the festivities, including our quiet session which allowed children and adults with special educational needs and sensory sensitivities to enjoy the event.

“We want to make our community events the best they can be, so if you attended, please do complete our survey to tell us about your experience. I hope you all had a brilliant time and I wish you all a very happy festive season.”

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! And the council’s team of elves have transformed Avery Hill Park into a new Sparkle in the Park winter wonderland for Royal Greenwich residents to explore.

The free festive fun continues daily from 30 November to 3 December, between 4.30 and 9pm.

Aa part of the annual festive light trail, the historic Winter Garden is illuminated, alongside stunning light features sponsored by Bagnalls and Lbox Communications. There is also be a market, fun fair and musical performances. OnSaturday and Sunday, Disco Shed will have you rockin’ around the Christmas tree in no time!

Entry is free, and unlike last Christmas, visitors won’t need a ticket to enter this year’s event. We will do our best to minimise any wait times, but please be prepared to queue for entry at busy times.

On Sunday 3 December, the first hour will be a quiet session, for children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and sensory sensitivities. Public access will resume at 5.30pm.
